Origin required the development of a comprehensive online course for their Companion Training program that aligned with the objectives of their Origin Life Academy. The goal was to provide practical knowledge while reinforcing the core principles of the Origin Way, with a strong emphasis on person-centered care. The course aimed to cover essential topics such as health and wellness, safety, communication, and ethics, along with assessments and case studies to evaluate learners’ understanding. 

Learning Solution:

We developed a comprehensive course for the Companion training program through extensive research of evidence-based research and insights, ensuring an engaging and informative experience. The course includes case studies, assignments, and scenario-based assessments, supported by engaging videos and interactive elements. To enhance motivation and track learner progress, we incorporated gamification features throughout the training.

Brief:

Alberta Foodsafe required an interactive learning platform to train food bank volunteers in safe food handling and preparation. The goal was to make essential but challenging food safety practices more engaging and accessible for volunteers while ensuring the course met the requirements of Alberta Health Services.

Brief:

The Ontario Foodbanks organization needed an eLearning solution to train both employees and volunteers on deploying their emergency preparedness plan (EMP). The goal was to convert an existing paper-based EMP, developed by a consultant, into a comprehensive and accessible training program for all member food banks across Ontario.

Learning Solution:

We developed an online LMS that translated the EMP into an engaging, learner-friendly format. The training featured interactive elements, inline quizzes, infographics, and visual aids to simplify complex concepts. Practical, contextual scenarios tailored to food bank operations were integrated throughout the lessons. Each module concluded with a “Check Your Understanding” section to reinforce key takeaways.

The platform would offer fully customizable EMP templates tailored to each client’s unique requirements, incorporating contextual learning that directly aligns with their specific plans.

We created EPIC to host fully customizable Emergency Management Plan (EMP) templates alongside integrated learning content. The platform allows for seamless tailoring of plans to align with each client’s specific requirements. Training materials are directly connected to the client’s EMP, ensuring a practical and cohesive approach to learning about emergency preparedness. EPIC simplifies collaboration, plan updates, and training, all within a centralized, user-friendly platform.

This resource raises employer awareness of workforce needs, emphasizes the importance of developing employees’ Skills for Success, and highlights the benefits of hiring racialized individuals and fostering an inclusive workplace.

Learning Solution:

We developed an interactive workbook with assessments, graphics, and research, along with content writing and editing, all in an easy-to-use format for employers. We chose to develop the workbook in H5P for seamless portability to the already established YWCA website.
